Project Delivery

As we deliver significant transformation to continue keeping our citizens safe and our country secure, the need for great project professionals at the heart of delivering public policy has never been more important. New technology and the fast-evolving nature of the threats we face mean we must adapt quickly, and the need for change is greater than ever.

Project Delivery is a large, complex and challenging area of work comprising more than 20 major and/or mission critical projects and programmes. We focus on agile, modular project delivery, with our teams delivering projects across the department. Our work ranges from building and maintaining parts of the UK’s critical national infrastructure, to complex technology enabled business change programmes.

Working in the Home Office provides excellent opportunities for career development. We offer you the scope to move roles throughout your career and to develop your skills and experience across projects with a range of complexity and size.

The benefits of working in a Project Delivery role at the Home Office

The Home Officeis committed to developing our Project Delivery professionals to equip them with the right skills and knowledge to deliver and support their career aspirations.

We promote a blended approach to learning, maximising all opportunities to learn on the job and share learning with others. Our learning activities include project delivery qualifications, ‘lunch and learn’ sessions, shadowing, mentoring, and talent and leadership development.

We participate in the cross-government Federated Academies programme, giving our staff the chance to learn, knowledge share and network with colleagues in other government departments.

The Home Office Project Delivery framework offers an opportunity to learn how projects are managed and delivered in the department, and how to achieve best practice aligned to the Infrastructure & Projects Authority Standard.

We also have an active Project Delivery Community of over 1,500 members. Our monthly project delivery ‘lunch and learn’ sessions offer access to practical knowhow from experienced project delivery professionals. We also deliver annual larger scale events across the country and publish regular newsletters featuring information on forthcoming developments, events and vacancies.
